Make Time to #Play

So many of us our consumed by our busy lives, leading us to believe that there is no time left to play. It’s often one of the first things that we give up when others need us. “Me time” should be on the top of our priority list; the more we give to ourselves, the more we will have to give to others.

Next time you catch yourself giving up your fun time, ask yourself, is there a way I can plan my day differently? Is there a way to take 20 minutes between jobs to relax and recharge? Whether it’s an afternoon at the beach with your friends, or just a few minutes taking a walk in the morning, allow yourself to accept the importance of fun, play and freedom!

There are many benefits to giving yourself the gift of play time, here are some ways you will benefit:

1. Overall Health
By getting your body moving and breathing in fresh air and sunlight your body absorbs a natural source of vitamin D. Vitamin D is crucial for the regulation of calcium and phosphorus absorption, which contributes to the health of your teeth and bones. By spending time outside everyday you will significantly improve your health by being exposed to natural vitamins.

2. Less Stress
Forgetting about your worries through play is one of the best ways to relieve stress. When you are fully in the moment and focused on enjoying what you’re doing it is nearly impossible to be stressing about the paper that’s due tomorrow at school, or the meeting you have to attend for work. Giving yourself a break in your day allows your mind to relax and be rejuvenated.

3. Helping Yourself and Others
By focusing on living a balanced lifestyle that includes play time and work time, you are able to learn about yourself and reward yourself with the things that bring you happiness. Learning about yourself and being strong in your routines helps you to be able to share them with others. Inspiring other people is incredibly rewarding, but you cannot only give to others if you never give to yourself.

4. Positivity
Have you ever noticed that the people you are most drawn to are the ones that make the best out of any situation? Or maybe they’re the ones that say good morning when you walk into work everyday? One positive attitude can change the dynamic of any environment. By having fun, laughing and playing, your mood will easily be lifted. Having fun in that one moment won’t just last temporarily but will change your energy level and prospect in many situations throughout the day. Having an uplifted and positive attitude will make your day easier and far more enjoyable for both yourself and those around you.
